It sounds like the perfect job, but for Logan any job will do, because he needs one desperately. Told he will be helping to display a unique collection, it isn’t until Logan gets the job that he finds out exactly what he has signed up for. The unique collection is actually a group of supernatural creatures. And to display them, he will have to fight them in an arena for the entertainment of the rich.

Logan thinks it must be a hoax, but when he reaches the estate where he is to work and live, he finds out all he was told is true. Werewolves, vampires and zombies exist, and one day he will have to fight them.

Penny seems to have it all. Not only is she the adopted daughter of Logan’s billionaire employer, but she also has the ability to read minds and see the future. Logan and Penny quickly form a friendship, but they have obstacles to overcome to make it work. Like the fact that Penny knows everything Logan’s thinking.

But Logan’s thoughts aren’t the only thing Penny knows.

Into the Night eBook Jade Fowler

For the sake of full disclosure let say up front that I am a bit partial to this author. I've been acquainted with Jade for several years now through our shared love of The Master, Richard Laymon. However, my feelings toward her did not effect my review of this book. I take my books very seriously and would never share an opinion I did not believe were truthful. This book was excellent!!! I'm not generally drawn to YA fiction, but I HIGHLY enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next installment in the series! Not wanting to give any spoilers I will only say this: The characters are very likable and relatable, the dialog was clever and easy to read....and I found myself very fond of a certain werewolf ;) It actually grabbed my attention quickly (a must for me), and made me wonder what the heck was going on! It has action, suspense, drama, magic, horror, blood, and a bit of romance. What more can a person hope for in a series? I really like the fact that it is great for all ages and can't wait for my niece to read it. Good job Jade!!! Keep 'em coming sister!! :)

Into the Night eBook Jade Fowler Reviews

Into the Night was way better than I expected it to be. I'm a bit apprehensive reading books about so many supernatural beings because in the past I haven't seen it done very well. There's often no solid story, or the characters don't actually have any characteristics.

In this case, there was a bit of the author telling me what was happening rather than showing me. And maybe I missed it, but I don't actually remember getting a description of many of the characters, including Logan. Even Gerard I only remember his eyes being described and later on his accent. It doesn't bother me too much because I just constructed what they looked like in my head, but for those who want to know exactly how the characters are supposed to look might get ticked off.

One other thing that bothered me too is that when Logan first witnesses the fights, the first description of each person is how he couldn't really see what was different about them, yet he still believes they're supernatural. Like the zombie, yet after being so doubtful about everything once he steps in the arena and someone tells him that the regular looking person is a zombie then he's a believer.

Those (actually quite small) issues aside, I really enjoyed Into the Night. I thought every single character was portrayed excellently; they had specific characteristics and they stuck to them. I hate it when books will change a person's traits just to fit the situation (cough cough Mockingjay) so I was super ridiculously excited about everyone staying true to what and who they were here. I had strong opinions about basically all the characters, which means I cared. I thought Zane was depressing. Penny irritated me beyond belief with all her secrets. Gena was sweet but misguided. AJ was too spiteful. But the thing is, I still really liked all the characters. Even Gerard and Jackson are well done. I hated them, Gerard for what he has done and Jackson for what I know we will find out he's done later on. I know there's something there, and I have a theory, but I'll keep it to myself in case I spoil it for anyone (or myself).

I give this 4 stars instead of 5 only because I'm so mad about the cliffhanger! I got sucked into the story and even got all teary eyed at one point (which hasn't happened in a while) and then it just ends and I'm so not a patient person and I want to see what happens and I'm mad at the author for making such an excellent cliffhanger. Veiled compliment I suppose, because I wasn't ready for the book to end and now I am dying to read the second!
This book took me by surprise! I was expecting expecting a fun, lighthearted supernatural book for a quick one time read. What I got was so much more...

This book is mainly written from our the point of view of Logan, a young man who is disconnected from his parents due to an incident. He loses his job and comes across a unique offer. Leave the life he knows behind and move to an estate where he receives room and board in returning for training and being willing to fight supernatural creatures once a week. The catch, he cannot have contact with the outside world nor tell anyone where is is going, who he works for, etc. Having little to lose, Logan accepts but goes in expecting a joke.

No joke. He meets a vampire, werewolf, zombie, fairy, leprechaun, etc. He befriends two other recruits, Mack and AJ, who tel him some disturbing news. Once you are there, you can never leave. The guards will stop you with the aide of a witch and psychic. Indeed there is a witch, Gena, and psychic, Penny. the daughters of his boss Gerard. But is the leaving part true?

This book also takes in from Penny's perspective as she and Logan become friends. Logan is learning whom to trust and whom not to, dealing with his desire for the local vampire. Penny, too has her own issues with her family and a certain werewolf who has claimed her as his but is unsure of her feelings toward him.

My only complaints with the book is the physical description seemed lacking. In how characters looked, the layout of the estate, etc. I wanted to understand things better. Like how figts wre determined. A month after Logan is there Mack is in his first fight? How many recruits are there so that you can go so long and not fight? Also. even when reading from Penny's point of view there are major things happening that apparently never cross her mind. I realize the author was trying to keep things a secret for out enjoyment but some of what she knows should have seeped through just a little more I would have though. And yet its a good thing as I said it keeps us in the dark so we can later be surprised.

This book had a bit of the romantic air to it but was not the main theme for the story. This was a very refreshing change. However, throughout all the supernatural plot this book does focus a lot on the human heart and what we feel for others. This I loved. I loved the conflicting emotions each character went through. Very well described and realistic. I almost cried at one point in the book. And had sneaky emotions that kept trying to guide my thoughts as I read. Especially the second half of the book.

Almost every character seems to have some kind of secret. Some are answered in this book, some I must wait on the next book, for which I am highly impatient on. Especially the character Jackson, Gena's brother. Something is definitely up with that guy. Things are not as they seem in this book and there are twists and turns which I love to see unfold. Every character has a story that we get to learn about. And since each character is so well created (excluded physical looks) each backround was great to read.

Normally I would say 4 1/2 stars is the rating but since that is not an option, 5 it is! I highly anticipate the next book in the series and I hope author delved even deeper into her characters.

Thank you to the author,Jade Fowler, for offering the chance to read this book. She offered copies of it as a gift to a group I belong to. So I thank her for the chance to read and review this fantastic story.
When I got Into the Night I wondered if it was going to be a Twilight type book. But I was pleasantly wrong. Its nothing like Twilight; its like nothing else I've ever read. It has a great story with great characters and I had trouble putting it down. I wanted to keep reading it into the night. It may be a young adult book (and I am far from that) but I enjoyed it a lot. I've been friends with Jade for several years and was looking forward to reading her first book. She has it in her to be a best selling novelist. I look forward to her next book in the series. I have to admit I could easily see a movie made from this. Keep it up Jade!
